- Content Leak: As a result of the fallout over the controversy with the film’s director and its cast, a number of elements from the film leaked out thanks to the work of a disgruntled employees. These include:
- Creator Backlash: Following several racist statements coming to light from the director and some of the lead actors, several members of the cast and crew took to social media to distance themselves from the film, with the entire VFX team quitting en masse several weeks later in solidarity.
- Hostility on the Set: A user on Twitter who was familiar with Gavin Konop and Warden Wayne leaked various messages from a group chat, implying in now-deleted tweets that they worked on the set of the film and were on less than cordial terms with Konop or the rest of the cast.
- Troubled Production: The technical side of production had issues, with the director shorting storyboard artists and encouraging crunch to get a visual effects shot ready for a trailer. Eventually, after a series of offensive messages from the cast and crew came to light, the aforementioned leaks from the film followed. Several VFX artists from Lotus have since gone on to clarify that Gavin had offered to push back the trailer’s release date to accommodate for potential crunch, but the team assured him that it would be done on time.
- What Could Have Been: Two sequels, tentatively titled Spider-Man: Iris and Spider-Man: Rose, were reportedly planned — although one of the actors involved revealed that several details were untrue, here is a synopsis of the "leaked" films:
- Iris would have covered the Black Suit Saga, a love triangle between Spider-Man, Mary Jane Watson, and Black Cat, and would have featured Daredevil. Scorpion was the main villain, created by J. Jonah Jameson and Spencer Smythe. Spider-Man's identity would've briefly been exposed, but Daredevil would don the suit briefly to provide cover for Peter Parker. Spider-Man would discard the suit after it nearly drives him to kill Jameson, while Smythe would get a sample of Peter's blood to create Ben Reilly.
- Rose would have covered the Clone Saga and Kraven's Last Hunt, with Venom also set to appear. The film would be begin with the death of Aunt May, and Peter Parker would plan to propose to Mary Jane. Spider-Man and Scarlet Spider would team up while Kraven the Hunter and Venom would team up, but Kraven would later betray Venom. Kraven would then hire Scorpion and make use of Spencer Smythe's Spider-Slayers before kidnapping Mary Jane. The Spider-Men and Venom would team up against this group in an epic battle, only for Mary Jane to die and Spider-Man to sacrifice his own life. Scarlet Spider would take up the mantle going forward.
