Superhero fan films have been around as long as the genre itself has existed. Despite how good the original film is, fans often feel unsatisfied, sometimes feeling that things could have been done differently, or wanting to see other characters and arcs than the ones showcased on screen. As a way to scratch this itch, many come up with their own version of events.
While some write these things, better known as fan fiction, some go the extra mile, picking up the camera themselves. Writing, casting, directing, and editing their own films, these types of movies have become a subgenre on their own, with many enthusiastic fans.

Fan-Made Film Spider-Man: Lotus Has Gathered Quite The Hype
A recent example of such a film is Spider-Man: Lotus, a fan film directed by Gavin J. Konop, is a non-profit movie, which focuses on the story of Peter Parker, who, after the death of his beloved friend, Gwen Stacy, struggles with thoughts of giving up being Spider-Man for good, until he receives a letter from a terminally ill kid, who is asking to meet him before their passing.
While the concept on its own isn’t anything new, the quality and dedication of the film, attracted the attention of many. While the majority of this attention is positive, some have countered that there are far better movies out there, which deserve as much attention as this movie is getting.

Fans Demand Batman Fan Film Get More Attention Than Spider-Man: Lotus
With the hype surrounding Spider-Man: Lotus, fans on Twitter were very quick to mention another fan film that they believe deserves as much, if not more hype than the Spider-Man movie. The movie in question is the 2003 Batman fan-made film, called Batman Dead End. Some brought up the fact that even though the Spider-Man movie had a budget of $112,000 and the Batman film had $30,000, the latter is far better than the other.
“It’s even funnier that this kid was shitting on the MCU spider-man and everything I’ve seen from his film feels even more soulless” one said about Spider-Man: Lotus.
Some talked about how this particular fan film may be better than anything that DC has put out relating to the character. One person talked about how they feel that fan films are no longer about creativity and are now made by people who pick up a camera believing that they can do a better job than the studios, only to make a mediocre film.
